Everything you need to know to participate in the 2009 SushiMasters Regional Competitions
The California Rice Commission invites qualified professional chefs to enter the 2009 SushiMasters Regional Competitions. Events are being planned in Washington, D.C., Florida and California, with winners advancing to the SushiMasters Finals this fall.
If selected, qualified chefs must first compete locally. Overall winners in each region will continue on to the 2009 SushiMasters Finals in Los Angeles, the birthplace of sushi in America.

Japanese Language Forms
Interested chefs must meet the following criteria to qualify for entry:
- Must be a professional chef with a minimum of three years of experience in sushi preparation at an established restaurant. Experienced head or assistant head chef preferred, but not required.
- Chefs must currently own or work in a restaurant located in California, Florida, Washington, D.C. or Maryland, and must enter for the Regional Competition closest to their workplace.
- Entrant must obtain a letter of support from a professional sushi chef, such as an employer, mentor or colleague.
- Chef/Owners of restaurants in business for more than five years are exempt from having to provide letters of support, but should provide at least one reference.
- Entrants must complete all entry forms, ingredient lists/recipes and photographs of recipe entries by indicated due dates.
